QUICK FACTS Name: Reggae Age: 7 years old (Born January 2019) Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Mini Poodle Color: Black Weight: 4.9kg / 10.8lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I was rescued from a puppy mill where I endured neglect and hardship. Thankfully, I was given a second chance and rescued from that difficult environment. Those days are finally behind me, and now I'm ready to leave my past behind and begin a new chapter filled with love, safety, and happiness. All I'm missing is a forever family to call my own.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY I'm an adorable little black Poodle with a heart full of love! One of my best qualities is how quickly I warm up to people. Even when meeting someone for the very first time, I'm happy to accept gentle pets and affection. It doesn't take long before I'm leaning in for cuddles and showing off my sweet, affectionate personality. I love being close to my people and enjoy all the attention you have to give! Another wonderful thing about me is that I don't experience separation anxiety, so I'm comfortable relaxing on my own when needed. I'm the perfect combination of affectionate and easygoing, and I can't wait to find a forever family to shower with love.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: The volunteers and staff all agree that I must have had a family at some point because I'm so comfortable around people! I absolutely love meeting new friends and happily accept pets and tasty treats from everyone I meet. In fact, I'll often approach strangers with curiosity, confidence, and a wagging tail, hoping they'll say hello. I'm also a smart little boy who already knows commands like sit, spin, and wait without needing any extra training! I know I'm irresistibly cute and tiny, so you'll probably want to scoop me up right away. I just ask for a little time to get comfortable first, and once I trust you, I'll happily enjoy being close to my favorite people. · With Dogs: I'm definitely more of a people pup than a social butterfly with other dogs. While I'm happy to politely greet new canine friends, I usually prefer to do my own thing rather than jump straight into playtime. At the care facility, I get along well with the other dogs and enjoy their company, but people are truly my favorite. Because I love human attention so much, I can sometimes get a little jealous when another dog is receiving all the affection, especially if I'm curled up on someone's lap enjoying a cuddle session. I'd likely thrive as the only dog in the home, where I can soak up all the love for myself. That said, I could also do well with another respectful dog and a family who understands how to set gentle boundaries and ensure everyone gets their fair share of attention. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to ensure the best fit.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring, and having fun, but once I’ve had my activity and excitement, I’m more than happy to come inside and relax comfortably indoors.   TRAINING & HABITS I walk well on leash and follow my handler’s lead nicely. I don’t guard my food against people but can be a bit sensitive when other dogs are nearby. I can bark when I want attention but quiet other than that. I potty both indoors (usuing a pee padd) and outdoors. I can mark when I’m in a new environment.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever • Experience with Poodles is a bonus, but not an absolute requirement • I'll do best with a family that understands I can be a little shy and defensive when I'm uncomfortable, but with patience and time, my loving personality will shine   SPECIAL NOTES I'm an incredibly cute, affectionate little boy with a bright mind and a playful personality! I absolutely love people and don't hesitate to make new friends. Even when meeting someone for the very first time, I'll happily come over for pets, lean against you for comfort, and soak up all the love and attention you have to give. Being close to my people is one of my favorite things, and I'm always ready to charm everyone I meet with my sweet personality. Because I'm a smart and thoughtful boy, I'm very expressive and communicate clearly when I'm feeling unsure. Some grooming tasks, especially clippers and nail trims, can make me feel nervous, while scissor trims are much easier for me. With a patient family who understands my signals and helps me feel safe through gentle, positive experiences, I'm sure my confidence will continue to grow.
