My story

QUICK FACTS Name: Waltz Age: 7 years old (Born January 2019) Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Mini poodle Color: Brown Weight: 4.65kg / 10.25lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I was rescued from a puppy mill where I endured neglect and hardship. Thankfully, I was given a second chance and rescued from that difficult environment. Those days are finally behind me, and now I'm ready to leave my past behind and begin a new chapter filled with love, safety, and happiness. All I'm missing is a forever family to call my own.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY I may come across as confident at first, but underneath it all, I'm actually a sensitive boy who looks to the people I trust for reassurance when I'm in a new environment. New places and unfamiliar faces can make me a little hesitant at first, but I'm incredibly smart and quick to adapt. Before long, my sweet and affectionate personality begins to shine. One of my favorite things is spending time with my people, and I'm not shy about asking for pets and attention! I'll happily come over to nudge your hand for cuddles and affection whenever I can.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I can be a little shy when we first meet, but I warm up quickly with a few gentle pets and tasty treats. I have a great appetite and am eager to please, making it easy for us to build a strong bond together. Once I feel comfortable, I'm happy to be picked up and enjoy spending time close to my favorite people. · With Dogs: I'm friendly with other dogs and enjoy saying hello to new canine friends, but I'm not the type to jump straight into play. I prefer to take my time and do my own thing until I feel comfortable. I also find a lot of comfort in the company of both people and dogs I know and trust. Having familiar friends by my side helps me feel safe, confident, and ready to enjoy new experiences. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown. A cat test can be arranged upon request to ensure the best fit.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring, and having fun, but once I’ve had my activity and excitement, I’m more than happy to come inside and relax comfortably indoors.   TRAINING & HABITS I walk well on leash and do a great job following my handler's lead. I'm still learning to be patient around food and can be a little sensitive during mealtimes, so I'll benefit from continued positive reinforcement and gentle guidance. I may bark occasionally to get your attention, but otherwise I'm a quiet boy. I'm also still learning to feel completely comfortable in my kennel. For potty habits, I currently use both pee pads indoors and go potty outside, though I may mark a little when adjusting to a new environment. Like many dogs, there are a few things I'm still working on. I can become nervous during certain grooming routines, especially when clippers are used, as the sound really startles me. I do much better with scissor trims, and I'm also a little sensitive during parts of bath time that can be uncomfortable, such as having my anal glands expressed. With a patient family who respects my boundaries and uses gentle, positive handling, I'm sure my confidence will continue to grow. Once I know and trust you, I'm incredibly affectionate and loyal. I'm simply honest about letting you know when something makes me uncomfortable. I'll thrive with a family who can provide plenty of love, patience, and consistency while also helping me learn good manners and boundaries. In return, I'll be a devoted companion who's ready to share a lifetime of love.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but it doesn't take long for my sweet side to shine. Once I've learned that you're someone I can trust, I'm incredibly affectionate and love being close to my favorite people. I'll happily soak up cuddles, enjoy being handled, and my playful, loving nature will have you smiling every day. One of my biggest strengths is that I don't experience separation anxiety, so I'm happy to relax and entertain myself while you go about your day. Like many Poodles, I'm a bright, sensitive boy who thrives with calm, confident, and consistent guidance. During my transition into a new home, I'll do best with a family that can patiently help me settle in without giving in to every demand.
