Toto's mother gave birth to 11 puppies and was taken to a shelter with all of them. Sadly, eight of the puppies passed away, leaving only three survivors. When the mother and her three remaining puppies were placed on the euthanasia list, the 4 of them were rescued. As a precaution, the puppies received treatment for roundworms, and were bottle-fed and raised from approximately two weeks of age. Toto may be timid at times, but she is an adorable and incredibly affectionate girl. She and Latte are siblings and rely on each other very much. They would love to be adopted together, but they are not bonded. More than anything, the hope is that they each find a wonderful and loving forever home. Good with women: Excellent, Toto is incredibly affectionate and always wiggles her whole body with happiness when she sees people. She will be the sweetest and most loving companion for life. Good with men: Excellent, Toto is incredibly affectionate and always wiggles her whole body with happiness when she sees people Good with children: Yes, she loves playing and spending time with them Good with other dogs: Excellent, she gets along very well with other dogs Good with cats: Unknown, Toto has never been introduced to cats, so this has not been tested. However, she is gentle and has shown no biting behavior, so we believe she could potentially live well with a cat after a slow and proper introduction. House trained: Yes, she goes to the bathroom both indoors and outdoors and is 100% pee-pad trained Crat trained: Crate training is currently in progress Energy Level: Medium Can be handled/touched: Yes, she enjoys being touched and is extremely affectionate Barker: Low, she may bark briefly when she hears an unfamiliar sound Flight Risk: Any dog can become frightened or disoriented outdoors, even if they are normally calm. Toto must always be securely leashed during walks, and care should always be taken to prevent her from escaping. Food Aggression: No, she has not shown food aggression, but she is very food-motivated. We are currently teaching her to sit and wait before receiving her food. She is extremely intelligent and learns very quickly. Current Food: She currently eats a mixture of different foods, including Natural Core Duck or Lamb and Pet Balance. Walks on leash: Yes, she may feel frightened and tense when she first goes outside, but after a little time, she relaxes and walks quite well Leash reactive to people or dogs: No, she generally shows little interest and does not react strongly to people or other dogs Rides well in cars: Yes, she travels well in the car, although she may be slightly nervous Destructive: Toto is still a puppy and can be playful and mischievous. She enjoys large dog chews and may occasionally chew on things. Needs a home with a yard: Preferred Needs a home with another dog: Preferred, she can live as an only dog, but she also enjoys playing with other dogs. Can live in an apartment: Possibly Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
