HONEY / Female / 3yrs 8mths / 55lbs / Mixed Breed / Pulled from shelter as an unclaimed stray / Fostered in Toronto (East York)Good with other dogs and kids / High prey drive - No cats or small pets please / House and crate trainedLife is sweeter with a little Honey! Meet Honey: a big-hearted, goofy girl who loves everyone she meets. She’s happiest with her people, a good toy, a game of fetch, and plenty of opportunities for snuggles! We don’t know much about her past, but we do know she’s so ready for a life filled with love and kisses with her furever family.Honey is the kind of dog who thinks everyone she meets is her new best friend. She’s a goofy, sweet, affectionate girl with a huge personality with the wiggles to prove it. Her signature move is rolling onto her back for belly rubs while happily wiggling her bum. What a ham!At home, Honey is an absolute angel. She’s non-destructive, comfortable in her crate, and happy to entertain herself with her toys. She loves fetch and getting the zoomies outside, but once she’s had her exercise, she’s content to curl up on the couch or her bed and snooze. She currently enjoys two 30–45 minute walks a day, plus play and enrichment, and settles nicely for the rest of the day. Honey’s not just a pretty face - she’s smart and eager to please. She has made great progress with jumping and counter surfing and knows commands including “place,” “leave it,” and “look.” She’s always up for an adventure and is also comfortable being left alone and will happily and quietly go into her crate.Honey is currently working through some leash reactivity such as pulling and barking, so slow, thoughtful introductions, redirection, and continued positive associations with other dogs will be important for her success. She hasn’t shown any concerning or negative behaviour toward dogs off leash, but her furever family should support giving her the time and space to learn appropriate leash manners around dogs. When meeting new dogs, Honey has done well on a long line, giving her the space she needs to feel comfortable. She also has a high prey drive and is learning she can’t try to chase every squirrel she sees. Because of this, Honey would ideally live in a calmer neighbourhood. She may be able to live with another dog with slow, proper introductions, but she would also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only. Honey is a dream with kids and loves the attention, but given how excitedly she shows her affection, she may be best in a home without small kids.If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, affectionate best friend who will greet you with a wagging tail, entertain you with goofy zoomies, and happily flop over for belly rubs, Honey might just be your girl. She has so much love to give and is ready to find her forever family! Apply to adopt Honey today at www.caninehaven.org/dog-applicationSpayed / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date
