WEACT received a report that dogs were in danger in a small village in Jeongeup during Boknal, the hottest days of summer, when dog meat consumption still occurs in some regions. We rushed to the site at dawn, and secured ownership of the remaining dogs. During this time, we encountered a dog meat trader's truck driving through the village, broadcasting that they were buying dogs. When the truck finally stopped, we found three dogs inside. Without hesitation, we brought them into our arms. One of them was Daphne. Overall, Daphne is a truly affectionate girl who loves being around people. She enjoys receiving attention, resting beside her humans, and sharing quiet moments together. As a blind dog, she relies heavily on her hearing and sense of smell to navigate the world. She may need a little time to adjust to a new environment and build trust with her family. At first, she may occasionally bump into things as she learns her surroundings, but with patience, reassurance, and gentle guidance, she quickly gains confidence and settles into her routine. Daphne gets along well with other dogs and is gentle and non-confrontational. She can happily live with another dog or as an only dog. Once she forms a bond, she becomes a devoted companion who loves staying close to her people and sharing everyday moments together. More than anything, she is looking for a loving family who will provide the safety, comfort, and companionship she has always deserved. In return, Daphne will reward her family with loyalty, warmth, and endless love. Good with women: yes, Daphne is good with women Good with men: yes, Daphne is good with men Good with kids: yes, Daphne does fine with respectful children. Because Daphne is blind, interactions should be supervised by an adult, and children should avoid sudden approaches or unexpected touch. She has shown calm, polite manners around children, greeting them with a brief sniff before moving on, and responds well to guidance and handling. Good with other dogs: yes, Daphne gets along with other dogs. She is gentle and non-confrontational. She does not initiate conflict and does not bark or growl first, but she can be startled by loud barking or sudden reactions from other dogs since she relies heavily on her hearing and sense of smell. She may become nervous when she hears other dogs barking, so gentle reassurance can help her feel safe and secure. Good with cats: yes, with a proper introduction, Daphne gets along well with cats. She has experience living with a cat during foster care. Careful introductions and management are recommended. House trained: in progress, Daphne is mostly house-trained and can use both outdoor and indoor potty areas. Because she is blind, she does best when potty pads are kept in a consistent location, as she may occasionally confuse other soft surfaces with a potty pad. With routine and consistency, she understands where she is expected to go. Crate trained: yes Energy level: low to medium, Daphne enjoys a predictable routine and is happiest when she has regular bonding time, play sessions, and daily walks. One or two 30-minute walks a day are usually enough to meet her exercise needs, and she especially enjoys exploring the world through her sense of smell. Can be handled/touched: yes, Daphne is comfortable with gentle handling and does well with grooming, including bathing and brushing. Due to repeated blood draws during her medical care, she can be sensitive about having her legs touched. When handling her paws or legs, she appreciates a calm, gentle approach and reassurance. Barker: no Flight Risk: no, but it is always recommended to double leash at the beginning to be safe Food aggressive: no Current food: kibble Walks on leash: yes, Daphne walks very well on leash. Anyone can walk her comfortably, and she handles leash walks with ease. Leash reactive to people or dogs: no Rides well in cars: yes Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: not necessarily Needs a home with another dog: not necessarily, Daphne can live happily as an only dog. She can also do well with another dog, but she takes time to build trust and form friendships. Can live in an apartment: yes Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
