Ricky is a 2-year-old boy who landed on the e-list after becoming scared and shut down in the shelter. We were grateful for an initial foster, but unfortunately it did not work out for him and we have him in boarding. Ricky has definitely surprised everyone with how much he has come out of his shell there! He started off nervous, but with time and patience, he’s become a favorite of the boarding staff and is showing everyone what a sweet, loving boy he really is. Ricky can be very shy and timid when he first enters a new environment, BUT, he has no aggression and is simply a boy who hasn’t had enough experience with the world yet. Once he feels comfortable, he immediately wants to be part of the fun—especially if there are other dogs around! Ricky is playful with other dogs and was eager to jump right into playtime when introduced to the dogs in his previous foster home. He’s a medium-energy pup who loves meals, treats, and of course cuddles. Ricky is still learning his manners and will need a family willing to help him build confidence and learn the ropes. He has been known to counter surf and jump up on people, and he’s still learning to respond consistently to verbal cues and redirection. He’s a good boy who wants to do well, and his forever family can help him turn that enthusiasm into good manners with patience and positive training. Ricky is currently doing well with other dogs and would love a canine companion who can help him continue to gain confidence, but could also do well as an only dog. His history with cats is unknown, so we cannot currently recommend a home with cats. We recommend kids ages 7+ who can give him the patience and space he needs while he settles in. He could fit into many different types of homes, whether that’s an active household, a quieter home, a family, or a retired adopter. Ricky doesn’t cannot wait to find someone who can show him that the world is a pretty wonderful place after all. Adopt Ricky: https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/
