My story

Meet Pogo! He was found wandering near the freeway and a good Samaritan stopped to pick him up. He was taken to the county shelter where he was unfortunately e-listed quite quickly for flight risk behaviors. He was just overwhelmed and terrified, honestly who could blame him! He just wanted to escape that place. Luckily, we found placement with us and pulled Pogo into rescue. After a few weeks in his foster’s care, Pogo started to settle in. He will greet the family with enthusiasm and has shown he’s a talker when excited! His foster says he’s a sweet boy who loves to snuggle; he will lovingly dead weight into her! He walks nicely on a leash and especially enjoys getting out for adventures, with bike rides being a favorite. Best of all, his foster reports that he is completely housebroken! He is described as bouncy and playful when happy! Pogo’s ideal adopter will be patient and committed to helping him build confidence and work through some separation anxiety. Even with another dog in the home for companionship, he has chewed on items when left alone for extended periods which his foster believes stems from nervousness and insecurity rather than destructive behavior. Pogo can be timid when meeting other dogs and may growl or back away but has not attempted to snap at them. Pogo also has a prey drive, so he would do best in a home without small animals. The good news is that he responds very well to verbal cues and food-motivated redirection, which helps guide his focus and behavior positively. Pogo could thrive in either a busy or quiet home as long as he receives plenty of love, attention, and companionship. He truly enjoys being close to his family and resident dog, so having consistent company is very important to him. While his foster does not have children at home, they believe he could do well with respectful kids since he hasn’t had any issues with children in public. Any children in the home should simply be able to understand and respect dog body language and boundaries. Pogo would do best in a home with another dog, as he doesn’t enjoy being alone. This sweet boy is just ready to find his forever family and never be alone again! Apply to adopt Pogo to give him the home he deserves! Adopt Pogo: https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/
