My story

Meet Hodol - handsome, independent soul who is looking for a quiet, patient sanctuary to call his own. This well-mannered boy is fully house-trained, non-destructive, and has excellent mealtime etiquette with zero food aggression. Hodol would do best with another social dog companion to help him see that he is safe and the world is not a scary place. While he is initially very timid around new people and requires an experienced, hands-off handler to help him feel safe, he shines in a predictable routine. He travels securely in his crate, loves having a secure yard to explore at his own pace, and will proudly alert you when a package arrives at the door. With time, structure, and a patient guiding hand, his quiet loyalty will truly blossom. Good with women: Timid at first; needs a patient, slow approach to build his confidence Good with men: Takes time to warm up; thrives in a quiet, low-traffic environment Good with kids: Best suited for a peaceful, adult-only home Good with other dogs: Yes Good with cats: Untested; a cat-free home is recommended House trained: Yes! Excellent at taking his bathroom breaks outdoors. Crate trained: Learning the ropes; currently handles car travel beautifully when crated Energy level: Calm and observant; settles in nicely to a predictable daily routine Can be handled/touched: Independent and protective of his personal space; requires an experienced owner familiar with positive, hands-off bonding techniques and standard safety equipment like a slip lead Barker: Minimal; only alerts you when the doorbell rings Flight risk: Prefers a secure environment; requires a securely fenced yard and a watchful eye during transitions. Food aggression: None; has wonderful mealtime manners. Current food: Hills Science Diet. Walks on leash: Yes; can be alert to passing people or dogs, so he appreciates a confident handler to guide him past distractions. Rides well in cars: Travels safely, comfortably, and securely while resting in his crate Destructive: None; respects your home and belongings Needs a home with a yard: Yes; requires a securely fenced yard to safely stretch his legs Needs a home with another dog: Yes, another dog would be helpful to work on his confidence Can live in an apartment: Best suited for a detached home rather than a busy apartment setting Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
