My story

Danae's journey with us began when she was just 5 weeks old after being rescued from a hoarding case with more than 20 dogs and puppies. Thankfully, she was able to grow up in a loving foster home where she learned what it meant to be safe, loved, and simply be a puppy. At just 8 weeks old, Danae found a family of her own. Sadly, she was returned a year later when her family realized they didn't have the time to provide the training she needed. Today, Danae is getting a second chance through our Hamilton Hounds Training Program in Florida. She's learning basic obedience, good manners, and even a few fun tricks, and she's making wonderful progress every day. Danae is a gentle soul who can be a little shy when meeting new people. She gains confidence from having another friendly dog around and truly blossoms once she feels safe. Like a sunflower, she just needs a little time, patience, and sunshine to show her brightest self. Danae is a complete water dog! Give her a kiddie pool and she's in heaven. If there isn't one available, she'll happily try to squeeze herself into her water bowl instead. It's one of her funniest and most lovable quirks. Danae is looking for a forever family that understands trust takes time. If you're willing to let her move at her own pace, celebrate the little victories, and love her for who she is, you'll discover a loyal, affectionate companion who's been waiting for someone to believe in her. Good with adults: yes Good with kids: yes, recommend kids 10+ due to being shy & doesn't like kids climbing on her Good with other dogs: yes Good with cats: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: medium Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: no Flight risk: no; however, all dogs should be considered flight risks in new environments Food aggressive: no Walks on leash: yes Leash reactive to people or dogs: no Rides well in car: yes Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: no Needs a home with another dog: yes Can live in an apartment: yes Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
