My story

Name: Birdie (20240219-03)Weight: 62 lbs Age: 5 years Gender: female Spayed/Neutered: yes Breed: lab mix Colour: black and white Neck size (for collar):Height (from top of head):Length (from nose to base of tail):Crate size recommended: 36 to 42" Good with adults: yes Good with kids: yes, but can jumpGood with other dogs: yes Good with cats: yes House trained: yes Crate trained: yes, loves it Energy level: mediumCan be handled/touched: yes, very loving and sweet Barker: Some yes Flight risk: always leashed and contained. Hasn't jumped a fence in forever but could. Food aggressive: she will bark at a dog near her food so I crate feed. Walks on leash: yes, see foster notes Rides well in car: yes, but a little nervous Destructive: she shreds her bedding in a crate. I never leave her loose but isn't really destructive Needs a home with a yard: preferred Needs a home with another dog: not required Can live in an apartment: no Foster Insights / Story:Birdie is one of those dogs who is hard to describebecause shes wonderfully unique. She is incredibly sweet, deeply loving with her people, and full of personality, but the world can feel like a very big and scary place to her. Birdie is fearful of the dark and of the unknown, and she finds comfort in familiarity and routine. She walks nicely on leash but prefers a very specific routeonce Birdie has a pattern, she feels safest sticking to it. Crowded or busy environments arent her thing, but give her a quiet, peaceful setting and she truly shines. A calm country life or low-traffic home would suit her beautifully.Birdies quirks are what make her so endearing. She has a gentle soul, a sweet heart, and a surprisingly entertaining sideshe genuinely enjoys watching TV and would happily keep you company for football or hockey nights. She thrives with someone patient, kind, and understanding who sees her sensitivities not as flaws, but as part of her charm.Birdie has brought so much joy to her foster home, and shes ready to do the same for the right personsomeone who appreciates a loving, quirky companion and is willing to let her move through the world at her own pace.
