My story

Torzhok is a sweet 1.5-year-old boy, weighing just under 40 lbs.He currently lives in a foster home and is fully house-trained and crate-trained. He has no trouble sleeping in his crate overnight or while you are at work.Torzhok is affectionate and cuddly. His greatest joy is simply being with people. As I type this, he is napping on a dog bed beside my desk—and he will stay quietly there for as long as I need to work. He would make a wonderful “bring-your-dog-to-work” companion.Torzhok can thrive as an only dog, but he absolutely loves playing with other dogs. Having a doggy sibling or a regular playmate would be ideal. He came to Soul Dog with his siblings and is the only one still searching for his forever home. He did not do well in the shelter environment, where he appeared scared and anxious. We have since learned that loud noises are the main trigger. Though he is completely healthy, he is fearful of loud trucks, aggressive barking, fireworks, or anything that sounds like a gunshot.Torzhok was briefly adopted but struggled to potty on busy city streets due to his anxiety. In a quiet home with a yard, he does great. He knows how to use a doggy door and will go out to potty on his own. If the doggy door is closed, he will sit by the door to let you know he needs to go.Torzhok is a homebody. He loves cuddling, napping, and playing fetch in the living room. He gets along well with other dogs and plays in a submissive, gentle manner. He currently lives with an 80-lb male and two 50-lb female dogs, happily following their lead. His best friend in boarding was a 15-lb female who bossed him around! To see how he interacts with his foster siblings, visit Terrificbroth on Instagram. In Spring 2025, Torzhok completed an 8-week board-and-train program and learned several tricks. His adoption includes free lifetime training refresher courses, available up to twice a month through the Denver Prison Program. These sessions can be small group or one-on-one.Overall, Torzhok is a sweet and sensitive soul. He prefers a yard over walks, a quiet home over city life, and quality time with loved ones over toys. He needs a confident human and/or strong-willed doggy friends to help build his confidence. Please consider giving this tender-hearted boy a safe harbor where he can bond, love, and flourish.Meet Torzhok by filling out a free application today!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Torzhok, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
