My story

Meet Princess Poppy! Don’t let her royal name fool you—Poppy is as down-to-earth and playful as they come. She’s a bold, curious pup who loves to wrestle, snuggle, and explore every inch of her world. Though she’s still very much in potty-training mode, she’s crate-trained at night and is learning every day. She's working on leash skills, but she's not yet able to be walked for more than about half a block. She will need patient adopters ready to guide her through the basics of training—and she’ll reward you with nonstop laughs, love, and loyalty.Poppy LOVES kids (ages 2 and 6) and loves to be held by the little ones. She loves to play with any dog she meets, but still needs guidance when seeing the neighbor dogs. She doesn't have any experience with cats yet.Poppy loves to snuggle, but she's a little more independent and bold. With all her puppy energy, Poppy will explore anything in her path! She is in an outdoor kennel for much of the day (weather permitting), and she runs, chases the other pups (or flies, or bees), and wrestles a lot -- and then conks out until the next round. She’ll do best in a home with a yard or access to outdoor play, but this is not required if she's given enough activity and enrichment.Poppy is very vocal! Because of this, she cannot live in a home with shared walls (no apartments/townhomes). She doesn't like when the humans leave her, so she would love to be with humans who can spend a lot of time with her, or with a doggy sibling to keep her company, or both! This will help while she builds her confidence.Poppy had a rough start in life, but she doesn’t let it define her. She’s ready to rule your world—in the most adorable, playful way possible! If you are interested in Poppy, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Poppy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
