My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Meet Hot Dog – The Lap-Loving Lowrider!   At just 6 months old and a petite 7 pounds, Hot Dog is the perfect pocket-sized pup with a whole lot of heart! This Chiweenie cutie was rescued from an overcrowded shelter and has since embraced the good life in his foster home, where he’s proven himself to be the ultimate cuddle companion.   Hot Dog leads a relaxed, go-with-the-flow lifestyle. Whether you’re a late sleeper or an early riser, he’s happy to match your pace. His favorite place? Your lap, of course! This little guy is a certified snuggler who will gladly settle in for a cozy nap, but he’s also content to hang out on his own in any sunny spot or comfy nook he can find.   He’s wonderfully social— great with kids of all ages and curious (but polite!) around other dogs, especially those closer to his size. Bigger dogs don’t phase him— he’ll simply carry on with his day. And while he’s not a fetch-playing dynamo, Hot Dog does enjoy showing off his helicopter tail wags when it’s time for affection or a stroll.   On walks, Hot Dog prefers a leisurely pace, taking time to sniff out every interesting scent and sound. He doesn’t pull or bark, but he sure loves an unhurried wander. He’s making fast progress with housetraining and is already learning to go outside on his own. He’s still getting used to his crate and may whine a little when inside, but he’s learning quickly.   Hot Dog is low-maintenance, low-key, and just plain lovable. He doesn’t bark much, and aside from the occasional curious nibble on a shoe, he’s not destructive. He’d thrive in a home with someone who wants a chill buddy with big eyes, a warm heart, and a lap dog’s soul.   Why Hot Dog? Because he’s the best kind of companion—gentle, sweet, affectionate, and full of love to give. He’s the definition of a good boy… just in a tiny, Chiweenie-shaped package.July 14, 2025, 7:16 pm
