My story

Meet Ursula! Unlike her namesake, she is not looking to steal your voice, but there is a good chance that she will steal your heart! Ursula is a very affectionate gal who loves to spend time in your arms, receiving pets and cuddles. Ursula was sadly surrendered to the shelter by her owner who became homeless and had no where to safely house her. Ursula could benefits from some vet care due to a skin condition on her back. She seems to be very open to handling and will be the best patient! Ursula is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly- you can meet her any day from 10am-6pm! Video: Ursula knows paw: https://youtu.be/7b2iGTZ2CKM Cuddling Ursula: https://youtu.be/1de5t4XBaZ4 Ursula and Susie Girl: 1: https://youtu.be/FjSm8wP1Aw0 2: https://youtu.be/PB-m1zXgt-w Behavior: 07/15/2025 staff notes: I entered the room during her vet exam. She approached me with soft and wiggly body language, distracted by the legions on her back, trying to lick them. She took treats gently and was social and affiliative to the staff. When vet staff attempted to look very closely at the wounds she would whip her body away and do head whips towards their hands, indicating she was uncomfortable. She was resilient and immediately social to the staff when they stopped trying to examine her. 07/15/2025 volunteer notes: Kennel Presence: When I approached her kennel, she was sitting on her bed laying down. She immediately got up and came to the front of the kennel. She waited there with a wagging tail and wiggly body as I got my leash out and made no movement as I leashed her. Very easy to leash. Leash: She walks calmly through the kennel with just minimal pulling. When she passes other dog, she does some light whining and grumbling with a fast moving tail and alert ears. Behavior: Outside in the yard, she was medium energy, exploring around and was interested in passing people and and dogs. When dogs walked by, she was high-pitched barking with a wagging tail and pushing her nose through the fence. She solicited pets from me and takes them all over it even around the scarred areas on her back- it seems to be super itchy as she will rub all around when you start to scratch her. I also noticed some blood coming out of her genitals so maybe in heat. She takes pets very gently and knows sit and paw. Super affectionate girl who likes to be close to you. I brought her to the volunteer office and she was good at sniffing out the snacks and treats. Took treats and pets with loose body from new handlers. We did a dog and she was quite tense, but got a lot more loose as we did a walk along. During the dog meet she was hard to read as she got tense and would hard stare. She would freeze and make a quick turn but never reacted or snapped. When other handler pulled the other dog away she would whine. Tail was mid level wagging, body language still, no hackles, relaxed ears. Definitely much more calm after a walk along Color: Giving her gold as she was very easy with handling, but has some scarring that we should be careful with. Could go down to Green if behavior continues and no sensitivity. ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open-intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313
