My story

I`m Thor, a fit and beautiful 130 pound three-year-old playful and happy Great Pyrenees mix dog looking for friends and a home with a fenced yard that can accommodate my size and my need to roam. I have been at the shelter for a little more than a 1 year as I wait for that unique person who is familiar with my breed and what makes me an awesome companion. I remain confident that there is someone in the Sedona-Verde Valley area who will see my beauty, my potential, my sparkle and my need to start a life outside the shelter. I am people selective and can tell pretty quickly if someone will make a good partner for me. When I feel a human`s calmness I am happy, peaceful, playful and really into being loved on. I am into belly rubs and squeaky toys. Daily exercise and mental stimulation are essential for me. I am funny and smart too, and know ‘sit, stay, shake’. I’m learning even more manners from staff and volunteers and with consistent training from an alpha coach like you perhaps, life will be great. Part of me feels like a lap dog despite my size because I have the heart of a puppy. I am especially good at making the people around me smile, like when I lean into them happily when being pet.I am dog selective and uncomfortable with unfamiliar dogs that are bigger than me. I have had fun playing with a few of the smaller dogs at the shelter, but you’ll want to chat with my care team about a ‘meet and greet’ with a dog you already have at home. It would be best if I was your only dog as our teamwork would be magnificent.I dream of one day living somewhere with room to roam and a family that can provide space, consistent care, trusting interactions and a sense of purpose. Since I am a young dog, I am strong on a leash and need someone who can teach me restraint, self-control and what is expected of me.
