My story

Meet Chip! The 35lb Lapdog with a Big Heart and Floppy Ears We welcomed Chip to the Freedom Squad! This lovable goofball came to us alongside Mintz after a Southern California shelter reached out—completely over capacity and unable to house the pair. We quickly got them to safety, and Chip was transported to Arizona where he was neutered and placed into an amazing foster home immediately. And let’s just say… Chip made himself at home real quick. Foster Pupdate: His foster mom reports that he instantly bonded with their resident male dog, picked up on the doggie door like a pro, and is already potty trained! At just 1.5 years old, Chip still has some classic puppy energy—he gets the zoomies, loves chewing on toys (with his signature booty-in-the-air pose), and occasionally tests boundaries if things aren’t put away. But overall, he’s incredibly respectful and sticks to what his toys. Personality Quirks: Chip is a professional cuddler—he will paw at you for pets and insists on being as close as possible. He’s a bit of a lapdog… all 35 pounds of him! He’s goofy, gentle, and surprisingly polite when it comes to sharing his toys and playing with his foster sibling. Chip Loves a good tug of war with his foster brother and chasing each other around the yard zoomie style until they are worn out. Adventurer Alert! Chip would thrive in an active home. He’s up for anything—camping, hiking, lounging poolside, or a fun outing to the dog park. He’s curious, confident, and loves a good adventure with his humans and fur sibling by his side. And don’t even get us started on those adorable floppy ears—they’re basically part of his charm package! Watch him in slow motion playing around with his foster brother and those cute ears are just flapping in the wind! Schedule/Medical: His appetite has blossomed! Once a picky eater, Chip now gobbles up his meals and is learning to sit and wait patiently. He’s getting the hang of “sit” for treats and enjoys bath time like a champ. Chip is medically sound, he came into the rescue with an ear infection, but his foster mom has been taking great care of him, and it has cleared up. Other than that, Chip shows no signs of medical issues at this time and is a healthy fella. We made the call to separate him from Mintz so she could focus on her puppies, and Chip has done beautifully on his own. He hasn’t shown any signs of stress or depression—instead, he’s thriving and soaking up all the love. Ideal Home: Honestly? Chip would do well just about anywhere! Male or female owner, solo dog or playful companion—he’s well-rounded, friendly, and ready to love. Ready to make room on your couch (and in your heart) for this snuggly, floppy-eared boy? You are going to need a lot of room but he has no problem making sure he fits next to you! Chip is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped; his adoption donation fee is $1050.00. You can apply for him at freedomfrenchierescue.org and read how our adoption process works.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chip, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
