My story

From the moment I met Bailey, her quiet, loving presence melted my heart. She isn’t just a dog—she’s a companion, a shadow, a warm little soul who adores being near her people. If you’ve ever dreamed of a dog who will nap peacefully at your feet while you work, curl up beside you on the couch at night, and follow you from room to room with quiet devotion, Bailey is that dog. She’s the perfect balance of calm and adventure—content to lounge the day away but always eager for a long, meandering walk through the Wissahickon. In just three days, she’s already mastered walking on a leash with hardly any pulling, as if she’s always known the rhythm of a good stroll. At night, she settles into her kennel without protest, and during the day, the house stays quiet—save for the occasional alert bark at a strange noise. I’ve shared my life with many dogs, but I’ve never met one as naturally well-mannered in the car as Bailey. She simply rests her head on the seat and watches the world go by, unfazed by the motion. Toys and fetch don’t interest her much. What she craves is connection—the reassurance of a hand on her head, the comfort of being near. She’s a bit of a Velcro dog, perhaps a lingering habit from her time in the shelter, but her trust grows every day. Visitors are welcomed with gentle curiosity, especially after a proper introduction outside first. And when it comes to house training? Flawless. The only hurdle left is the crate when she’s alone—she whimpers when left behind. But with patience and time, I know this, too, will pass. Bailey is a rare kind of dog—one of those special souls who seems to understand love in its purest form. If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you with every fiber of her being, your search ends here. Bailey is waiting.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bailey , please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
