My story

Uma was transferred to Valley Humane on 11/8 from Oakland Animal Services. She had been surrendered by her owner, along with 2 other dogs, due to housing issues. Uma is a senior dog (aged between 7 and 10 years old) and weighs 8.3 pounds.Uma was diagnosed with grade III patellar luxation in both knees. This condition is common in small and toy breed dogs. In grade I, the patella sometimes moves out of place but returns to its normal position its own. In grade IV, the patella (kneecap) is constantly out of place and does not move back into its normal position. Grades II and III are intermediate in between these. Patellar luxation can cause occasional intermittent to constant lameness.
